This workshop invites you to a close analysis of the structure and composition of sock yarn. By dissecting the threads, you will develop a critical, visual, and physical understanding of their unique characteristics. You will learn to identify how these yarns are made and why their qualities make them so versatile for socks and other textile projects.
This hands-on workshop includes manipulations and knitting exercises. By the end of the session, you will know how to apply this knowledge judiciously to enrich your creations. Your passion and creativity for this type of yarn will be greatly amplified.
Duration: 2 periods of 2h30
Prerequisites: Basic knitting knowledge (knit and purl stitches, experience with sock knitting).
Composition & care
100% local Québec wool, hand-dyed with natural dyes (plants, roots, minerals).
Hand wash in cold water, dry flat. Do not tumble dry.
Origin & traceability
Fleeces sourced in Lanaudière. Carded, spun and dyed at the Makeloo studio in Lavaltrie.
