Local wool and textile project consulting
Makeloo supports organizations that want to produce, source or add value to wool differently. Our work combines hands-on wool processing, local sourcing and circular textile thinking.
From supply strategy to fleece valorization, we help turn a local material into a credible and practical textile project.
Consulting areas include:
- wool production and local supply-chain development;
- circular economy and fibre valorization;
- local wool sourcing and traceability.

From sustainable farming to high-quality yarn.
Since 2018, Marcelo Martins has worked with more than sixteen sheep farms across Québec to improve the quality of their fibre — through to the Lavaltrie micro-mill, where raw wool becomes a finished yarn: undyed, traceable, ready to use as is or to dye.
01
Fibre assessment
Judging the quality of the flock's fibre and what it can become.
02
Shearing, sorting, packing
Good practice at the farm to protect the value of the fibre.
03
Producer training
Hands-on workshops to raise quality before processing.
04
Intake and scouring
At the Lavaltrie micro-mill, with low-impact methods.
05
Carding and spinning
To the weight, twist and texture you need — undyed yarn at the end.
This service rests on two kinds of expertise: field experience built since 2018, and applied research, through Marcelo's work with the “Valoriser le mouton à son plein potentiel” team (UQAR, 2023 to today), alongside Stéphanie Landry, agronomist at the MAPAQ.
