The Circular Initiatives Award: recognition that confirms a vision

When a small craft business receives, for two consecutive years, first place and the public's choice award in a regional category as competitive as the circular economy, it deserves to be highlighted — not out of gratuitous pride, but because this recognition objectively confirms the relevance of a vision patiently developed, year after year.

The Circular Initiatives Award, presented by Québec Circulaire in collaboration with RECYC-QUÉBEC, recognizes projects that concretely demonstrate how to rethink our production and consumption methods to reduce waste and maximize the value of each resource. For the Lanaudière region, Makeloo Studio won this award both for its technical excellence — first place — and for the direct appreciation of the public, through the "coup de cœur" award, and for two years in a row.

This double recognition, two years in a row, is not a statistical coincidence: it reflects a structural reality of our business model. The recovery of local wool that would otherwise be wasted, combined with the systematic valorization of our own production residues into biodegradable secondary products, exactly matches the criteria that such an award seeks to celebrate and highlight for the regional public.

For a small business like Makeloo Studio, this type of institutional recognition goes far beyond simple symbolic pride. It opens concrete doors: increased credibility with financial partners, regional media visibility that reaches customers who might never have discovered our work otherwise, and external validation that strengthens our own conviction in the relevance of continuing to invest in this circular business model, despite the logistical and financial challenges it sometimes presents.

For you, this recognition means that Makeloo Studio's environmental commitment is never just a simple marketing claim: it is a publicly validated reality, by a specialized jury as well as by the popular vote of our own regional community, two years in a row. It is exactly this kind of external validation that, we hope, gives you even more confidence in the material you choose to work with.
