This course is an immersion into the art of spinning, where you will learn to give intention to your yarn. You will explore two historical techniques, worsted spinning and woolen spinning, to understand their specificities. Through an approach combining theory and practice, you will discover their differences, strengths, and weaknesses, and learn to choose the technique that will best serve your creative project.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to identify these spinning techniques and practice them independently. You will improve your vision of artisanal spinning and gain confidence to create a variety of yarns, each with its own personality.
Duration: 6 hours
Prerequisites: Basic spinning experience (1 to 3 skeins) is recommended.
Composition & care
100% local Québec wool, hand-dyed with natural dyes (plants, roots, minerals).
Hand wash in cold water, dry flat. Do not tumble dry.
Origin & traceability
Fleeces sourced in Lanaudière. Carded, spun and dyed at the Makeloo studio in Lavaltrie.
